This dramatic, semi-abstract, acrylic painting sends a number of possible messages to the viewer. There are conversations occurring within the painting itself. The placement of faces and persons in thirds across the canvas, leads the viewer’s eye to the central, huddled ‘group’ outside in the street light.
There is strong use of jagged, dark lines in violet/burgundy shades and these are highlighted by primary yellow and gold colours. With the blob of colour on the woman’s head, tension is added to the already ominous feel of the scene. The white outline of the woman’s shape, along with her softly blended qualities, is in contrast to the dark mystery that surrounds her. This further emphasizes the tension and the degree of cerebral impact the painting has on the viewer.
A photograph does not do justice to this painting.
