The artist used negative and positive space effectively in these paintings, and they convey the effects of light at various times of the day. This painting may be incomplete. Nevertheless, it makes for an interesting comparison. Perhaps it is almost evening and the Master has not yet returned. Hence the dogs are still waiting.
