This painting was damaged in framing. However, Swiftly appears to be the artist’s response to Picasso’s ‘Portrait of a Woman’, a series of paintings that included many paintings.
The similarities between the two paintings are red lips and two noses. Picasso’s painting portrayed a woman with black hair, red eyes, and blue clothing. This painting has yellow hair, blue eyes and red clothing.
The brush strokes in this painting indicate erratic movement on the right side, and smooth movement on the left side. It’s a bright painting and well composed. Perhaps the painting represents the struggle between the left and right sides of the brain, the creative side versus the practical and sensible side. What do you think?
