In this acrylic painting, a lovely lady sits on a park bench, surrounded by freshly fallen blossoms of varying colours. With sun above and dappled shade below, this is a well-balanced painting, where two similar trees are in the area of focus, and they frame the lady on the park bench.
It’s a beautiful, green park. The soft pink dabs on the trees, and the gentle air of the painting, tell us something of the artist’s emotional state at the time.
Who is the lady? What is she thinking? Is she waiting for the artist to arrive? Perhaps she is making a decision, or reading a letter … or texting? What do you think?
Acrylic on Masonite, date unknown, probably late career. (Cleaned and framed. Slight alteration during restoration.)
