This is an interesting painting of, Tiger, the artist’s dog, resting and dreaming as it takes prime place on the artist’s bed, (and on the canvas).
The artist’s necessary canes are next to the bedhead and ready for use.
Interestingly, Tiger and the canes are painted in the same orange/brown colour and this suggests a connection between the two. Because of his disability, the artist needed his canes and he needed his dog. Blue, the complementary colour of orange, has also been used in the painting. Thin paint has been softly blended, and applied in a gentle manner throughout the canvas.
This painting gives the viewer a glimpse into the private life of the artist, and is a very special painting in a Private Collection.
Acrylic on Masonite, 1976. (Cleaned and framed.)
