This uncomplicated profile of an aboriginal girl is quite stunning.
The artist used a primary colour, yellow, as the dominant colour and combined it with another primary colour, red, to create this profile and then highlighted her shape in black. These three ‘colours’ are the colours of the *Australian Indigenous flag.
The painting is full of energy, and the yellow light silhouettes the dark profile. There is good use of negative and positive space in this painting.

The symbolic meanings of the colours are: black represents the Aboriginal people of Australia, yellow represents the sun, the giver of life and protector, and red represents the red earth and ochre, used in ceremonies, and the Aboriginal peoples’ spiritual relationship with the land.’ (Wikipedia).
